About this guideThe Locator scans for the nearest Artifact after charging with Void Juice; the official Steam achievement adds a bounded clue, while exact first-Artifact locations and a complete reward map remain unconfirmed.

Short answer

The current official sources document Artifact searching and Augments separately: a Locator filled with Voidjuice scans for hidden alien artifacts, while scattered Augments improve Utility items and movement. They do not currently establish a complete relationship or reward mapping between Artifacts and Augments, a fixed location list, or a complete reward table. Use the Locator workflow and verify what your current version reveals.

What is confirmed

The official Beginner’s Guide separately discusses hunting for artifacts and finding scattered Augments. It says Augments can improve Utility items such as the Gun, Rocket, or Shovel, as well as movement, boost speed, or boost duration. It does not provide a universal coordinate list or a complete mapping from an artifact to a particular Augment. A puzzle or ruin may also require a tool or resource that is not available yet.

The current Research page says to fill the Locator with Voidjuice to scan for hidden alien artifacts. Research is a WIP page, so confirm the Locator’s availability and UI wording in your build before planning around it.

The official Steam achievement Ancient Technology — Recover an alien artifact from the dunes offers a bounded clue that an alien artifact can be recovered from the dunes. It does not establish an exact location, route, or coordinate.

Locator workflow

The Locator is charged while you are within Void Juice. Once charged, it scans for the nearest artifact and indicates the rough direction. The Triangulation Lens upgrade enables exact artifact guidance. Once filled with Void Juice, the Locator can be used many times before it needs a refill.

  1. Open the current Research tab and verify that the Locator is unlocked or available.
  2. Confirm the current Voidjuice item name and fill the Locator as the game requests.
  3. Scan from a safe, readable location and follow the result shown by the current version.
  4. If the route includes a ruin or puzzle, bring the tool, resource, or movement capability the area requires.
  5. Record the result for your own save rather than publishing an unverified coordinate as universal.

Do not infer a location from an old screenshot, a demo map, or a community route. An artifact guide can explain the Locator and the separately documented purpose of Augments without pretending that a precise map or reward mapping is stable.

Augments and exploration decisions

Choose the exploration route based on what the current puzzle or area requires. The official sources do not establish a required Augment loadout or a permanent best Augment order.

If a puzzle is not solvable with the current kit, leave a note and return after Research or a relevant upgrade. If you become trapped, the official Beginner’s Guide recommends using the unstuck command from the pause menu.

Troubleshooting

  • The Locator finds nothing: check that it has the current Voidjuice input, that the scan is actually active, and that the current UI does not require a different interaction.
  • The marker does not match an old map: treat the old coordinate as unverified; use the current Locator result.
  • The artifact area is inaccessible: return with the tool, resource, or movement capability the puzzle asks for.
  • An Augment seems unchanged: verify which Utility item or character attribute it affects and compare the current item screen.
  • The Research entry is missing: check Factory Level, current tier, and the WIP Research page rather than assuming a permanent unlock order.

Common mistakes

  • Treating the Locator entry and the separate Augments section as proof of a complete reward mapping.
  • Publishing a demo coordinate, community map, or first-Artifact route as universal.
  • Freezing the Locator’s tier or cost even though its Research source is explicitly WIP.
  • Claiming a complete Artifact or Augment list when the cited official pages do not provide one.

FAQ

Where is the first Artifact?

The exact location is not confirmed by the cited official sources. Use the Locator with Voidjuice and record what your current version reveals.

Is the Locator’s tier or cost fixed?

This page does not freeze a tier or cost. The Research surface is WIP; verify availability, tier, and cost in your build after updates.

Are Artifact locations fixed for every world?

This guide does not claim that they are. Avoid universal coordinates unless an up-to-date official source establishes them for the current world model.

What do Artifacts unlock?

The cited official pages do not establish a complete Artifact-to-reward mapping. Separately, the Beginner’s Guide says scattered Augments can improve Utility items and movement-related abilities. Verify the reward shown by the current build instead of inferring it from an old guide.
