What it is for
The Blueprint Codec converts supported Blueprint strings into readable JSON and encodes valid JSON back into a Blueprint string. The upstream tool offers v2 binary and text forms and a conversion path for legacy v1 data. Use it to examine or move data between formats, not to certify that a design will place or run correctly in Sandustry.
Open the Sandustry Tools homepage and choose Codec inside the app. A direct /codec URL may return a GitHub Pages 404 when opened without the app shell, so keep the homepage as the primary link. The local Community tools directory lists this alongside the Inspector and Save Explorer.
Privacy and backups
The upstream workflow is intended to run locally in the browser and does not ask for an account. Treat Blueprint strings and JSON as save data: avoid shared devices, keep the untouched original, and save converted output as a new copy. Do not paste a private string into an unrelated online converter just because a local conversion fails.
Format and version limits
A valid encoding is not a gameplay validation. Unknown fields, unsupported structure types, malformed data, or a version mismatch can produce an error or a result that needs manual checking. Preserve the original string, compare the decoded structure count and signal links, and test the converted Blueprint in an empty area before replacing a working copy.
If you need to understand a supported v2 string, continue to the Blueprint Inspector. If you want screenshots rather than strings, browse SandPrints or open the original SandustryVault library.
